Oh great, trendnet is Crap….

Well, not only did I have problems with my New Trendnet router, but their support told me to call “my laptop manufacturer” to solve the problem with their router.

Well, I was having some major dropoff issues with the connection. I would join the network, and the internet would work for a minute, then stop. I would have to turn airport off then turn it back on and rejoin the network so it would work for another ten seconds, then dropoff. This was a problem on both my macbook and mac mini. When I used an ethernet cable, there were no problems. When I had an open network, no problems.

When I called support, this guy named Sam was making me change the ssid, then turn wireless security off. When I called back with an issue, he suggested that I use wep and not WPA. However, I am not using wep because it can be easily be hacked. He then noted that i should call my “laptop Manufacturer” because it was not the router’s fault that it is dropping out (at this time the network was dropping out even though i was close to the router.)

The funny thing is, it is the routers fault, because my old belkin router worked fine, and it had WPA Security. I am highly considering and probably will buy the belkin G router. it’s only 40 bucks (35 usually) so its worth a Shot.

This is the very same problems I encountered! The tech support may as well be my grandmother as far as tech knowledge or ability to fix the issues. I have lost many hours before finally dumping this unit and buying a Belkin.
